How you can help...

From a donor standpoint, the truly great thing is how much you can do to help.

If you feel God has touched your heart by the stories of these children and you want to learn more, we suggest these following steps for getting more involved.

  1. Pray for guidance and discernment. Pray earnestly each day for two weeks about these children, and then try to discern God's response to you. Each of us is called to serve God and His people in different ways. See if this is right for you.
  2. If you find your heart being led this way, begin a dialogue with us to understand what GSOC does and whether it feels right for you. We are not the only people trying to help these orphans, but our slant is different. We seek to create support that is personal, holistic, and bi-directional.
    • Personal, because we are all part of God's big family, with members found all around the world. Linking our donors and beneficiaries with each other helps each of us grow.
    • Holistic, because we try to combine deepening one's spiritual relationship and bettering lives materially and emotionally. We don't believe these can be separated. In the Gospels, Jesus' life of healing and teaching accompanied what He did to bring us life eternal.
    • Bi-directional, because although you are giving something precious of yourself to these children and their mothers, if you try to know them and their lives, you will receive back much more in return. It can be a life-transforming experience.
  3. If after prayer and dialogue you still wish to work with us, perhaps you can seek out other people from your Church, religious organization, or civic club who might want to join with you. From experience, we learn that by working in teams we support each other and share our skills to create something much better than we could as individuals.
  4. Finally, partner with us. Find one program that really touches you so that in working to make it a reality, you may gain in fellowship with other people here, and then be connected through the internet and mail with those you are helping. In learning about their hardships, hopes, and lives, you will experience the difference you make for them.

GSOC actively seeks relationships with foundations, Churches and people who have a place in their heart for Africa's children. Because rearing a child is a long-term commitment, we encourage ongoing commitments which build interpersonal relationships.

Become a "Partner for Africa's Future". Rearing a child is a long-term commitment, and we encourage individuals, Churches, and other organizations to become a "Partner" as part of their outreach program. Search your heart and resources and consider some of these donor levels:

These levels of support are well within the range of most organizations and many individuals. All levels of support, when added together, do a great amount of good. As they say in Swahili, "Haba na haba, hujaza kibaba" (little by little, the pot fills.)
