Welcome to the Good Samaritan Orphanage Charity.

Update: Please check out the Ebenezer Ministries women's clergy shirts, just $39 with all proceeds going to Ebenezer Ministries in Uganda.

We are a U.S.-based organization that works to create awareness of, and provide help to, Africa's 23 million orphans. We provide a stable funding source to dedicated African staff workers creating a new family for children who have lost their parents to a variety of causes, but predominantly AIDS; and we support educational activities in Africa that prevent the spread of AIDS.

Although the big picture is important, each statistic is a story like that of Rose Mweneemba...

In 1997, Rose Mweneemba turned 16, but it was not a happy time. Both of her parents had died of AIDS within six months of each other. Her two younger brothers were adopted by a missionary family about 100 miles away; but there was no room for Rose.

She had nowhere to live, left school and had nothing to eat when she wandered into Mbeya's Anglican Cathedral, hungry, lost, and in tears.

Fortunately for Rose, she had made a good decision.

Without places like the Mbeya orphanage, children like Rose live on the streets in packs, eating from trashcans, stealing and entering prostitution just to survive. Theirs is a life without hope, lived moment to moment; it is only a matter of time before they themselves die.

But this story has a happy ending. Today Rose is in University studying commerce and accounting. Through the work of dedicated African staffers like the Rev. Robert Mbinda and donations from people like you, it is possible to improve these children's lives and Africa's future.

Please spend a few minutes with us, learn about our children and what their daily lives are like. Kids are the same all around the world, and they need the same things (love, attention, positive role models, and hope for the future) as children here in the U.S. Why not lend us a hand?
